My name is Matt Baker, and I am one of the co-owners of Moontown Sound. I have worked in the Springfield music scene for almost twenty years. I have ran my own AV Production company The Dancing Soundman LLC for the last 6 years. The Dancing Soundman has ran production for thousands of small to medium crowds all over the tri state area since we hung up our shingle. Spending the last six years inside and out of just about every small to medium sized venue in a 4 hour radius has given me a unique perspective on the entertainment industry as a whole. One that we're convinced we can leverage into better shows, more engaged crowds, and a greater general appreciation and desire for participation from the community at large with regards to their local music culture.

Together with my wife Christina, I have spent the last fifteen years dreaming and scheming and scrabbling to make my vision of a community oriented arthouse music venue a reality. When we met David and Ash Bates, we knew we had found potential partners who shared our vision of art for art's sake, and our dedication to our community.

David and Ash play together in their band The Silence Between. They have developed a unique sound and a unique and beloved presence in our community. When they're not playing on the stage, David can be found in front of the speakers dancing his heart out. David is our honorable Dance Commander at Moontown Sound. That is not a title The Dancing Soundman bestows lightly.

Our goal together is to create a space where art can not just survive, but thrive. To that we end we moved into 1135 e commercial on the corner of National in January of 2025 with the goal of opening a diy vibed music venue. We have spent the intervening months navigating the process of constructing the necessary infill. 

Construction is finally underway, and we have an eye towards a late summer/early fall open date!
